Create MySQL database on Linux

MySQL database is collection of data, database is application commonly used to add, access and process data stored in a computer
Creating MySQL database is as easy as creating directory. only single command "create database" will fulfill the purpose

Below are the steps mentioned to created MySQL database
Login to MySQL server by using service account 
Login to MySQL instance as using root user

mysql -u root -p

Run show database to list out the databases currently available

mysql> show databases;
+--------------------+
| Database           |
+--------------------+
| information_schema |
| mysql              |
| performance_schema |
| sys                |
+--------------------+
4 rows in set (0.00 sec)

create database using below command. it will take default character set and collation

mysql> create database mydtbase;
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.01 sec)

check the database if its created

mysql> show databases;
+--------------------+
| Database           |
+--------------------+
| information_schema |
| mydtbase           |
| mysql              |
| performance_schema |
| sys                |
+--------------------+
5 rows in set (0.00 sec)

select the database and verify

mysql> use mydtbase;
Database changed
mysql>
mysql> select database();
+------------+
| database() |
+------------+
| mydtbase   |
+------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

check the details of database 

mysql> select * from information_schema.schemata where schema_name='mydtbase';
+--------------+-------------+----------------------------+------------------------+----------+
| CATALOG_NAME | SCHEMA_NAME | DEFAULT_CHARACTER_SET_NAME | DEFAULT_COLLATION_NAME | SQL_PATH |
+--------------+-------------+----------------------------+------------------------+----------+
| def          | mydtbase    | latin1                     | latin1_swedish_ci      | NULL     |
+--------------+-------------+----------------------------+------------------------+----------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
